In the old days pewter was cleaned with horsetail. It grows on moist ground and sandy fields. There is an especially high concentration of silica that is of low solubility. Used are only the green offshoots. Therefore, it is advised to freshly pick the whole herb and/or apply great care when processing it.

It offers aiding use
in a large variety of disorders and problems, related to bone fractures, tendons, joints, sprains, cartilage- and bone damage, common colds, stretch marks, metabolism, scars, reduction of fat- and water depots, atopic dermatitis, bleeding, vomiting of blood, bladder and kidneys, gall stone, wounds, rheumatism, gout, cancerous abscesses, leg sores, cough, lungs and bronchia, eczema, eyes, blood circulation, fatigue, gargling and rinsing the mouth.
